My Fair Lady Opens Saturday
Audiences will be treated to one of the grandest, most elegant productions ever to take the stage at Algonquin Arts Theatre when "My Fair Lady" opens this Saturday for an eight performance run. Broadway leading lady Glory Crampton reprises her critically-acclaimed role of Eliza Doolittle and stars opposite Broadway veteran Robert Johanson who plays Henry Higgins. Johanson appeared last spring as King Arthur in "Spamalot" and also directs this production. "I had a blast playing King Arthur in Spamalot last year with that wonderful cast," Johanson said. The PNC Foundation awarded Algonquin Arts a $15,000 grant to provide educational and cultural opportunities for over 200 Asbury Park, Neptune, and Howell Head Start students and their teachers. Algonquin Arts will be introducing new matinee times to their film programming schedule beginning this Friday, January 30, 2009. Matinees will now be featured on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at noon rather than later in the afternoon. These new matinees will make it more convenient for stay-at-home parents to enjoy a movie every now and then, while allowing them to be home when most school day’s come to an end.
