Algonquin Arts Presents the Irish Comedy A Couple of Blaguards

August 25, 2008

Algonquin Arts in Manasquan will be featuring the two-man Irish comedy, A Couple of Blaguards, written by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Angelas Ashes and Tis, Frank McCourt, and his brother, Malachy McCourt, author of A Monk Swimming, on September 13, 2008.

The comedy features scenes that are part fiction and part autobiographical, performed by Malachy McCourt (playing himself) and Mickey Kelley. This brilliant show has delighted audiences internationally and has received wide critical acclaim. The Washington Post raves A Couple of Blaguards has an unholy amount of charm, and Newsday declares that the show mixes the sweetness and kick of an Irish coffee. The Los Angeles Times affirms these master raconteurs have laced their combined experiences growing up in Ireland, and their escape to America into a vaudeville of comedy, Irish songs and a gallery of relatives, rogues, fools and petty tyrants -- priestly and otherwise.

A Couple of Blaguards will be at Algonquin Arts on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 8 pm. Tickets are $34 for adults and $32 for seniors and students. Group rates are available. To purchase tickets, call the box office at 732-528-9211 or go online at www.algonquinarts.org. Box office hours are Monday-Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
