MANASQUAN, NJ - This Saturday, February 25, at 1 p.m. the two star characters from "A Year With Frog & Toad" will sing a song and read from the storybooks that served as the basis for the musical.

Algonquin Arts Theatre and BookTowne will host "Frog & Toad Read Frog & Toad" in the Victoria J. Mastrobuono Studio located immediately behind BookTowne at 171 Main Street in Manasquan.

This will be a great event for young readers to get excited about the characters from the books. The event will last approximately 30 minutes and is catered to children ages 4-10.

Frog, played by Joseph Ficarra of Point Pleasant, and Toad, played by Sam Rosalsky of Berkeley Heights, star in the musical "A Year With Frog & Toad" from March 16-25 produced by Shore Repertory Theatre Company at Algonquin Arts Theatre.

Based on the beloved storybooks, "A Year With Frog & Toad" was nominated for three Tony Awards including Best Musical. The play follows two best friends, Frog and Toad, as they awaken from hibernation and embark on adventures together from planting a garden to flying kites, swimming in a pond or just settling down together with a warm bowl of soup. Variety raved that "A Year with Frog and Toad" "delights young eyes and minds."

Show times are Fridays (March 16 & 23) at 7 p.m., Saturdays (March 17 & 24) at 1 p.m. and Sundays (March 18 & 25) at 3 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now at algonquinarts.org or by calling 732-528-9211. Adult tickets cost $27, seniors cost $25 and students & children are just $18. Groups of 10 or more qualify for $20 adult/senior tickets and $15 student tickets.
