About Algonquin Jazz Ensemble
Led by Wall Intermediate School Band Director Steve Bryant and Bordentown Regional Band Director Mike Montalto, the Algonquin Jazz Ensemble is the newest component of the Algonquin’s Performing Arts Academy and will feature up to 21 musicians from 8th, 9th and 10th grades who successfully audition for inclusion from Monmouth & Ocean Counties.
The goal of the ensemble is to expose musicians to all areas of jazz, encourage students to continue practicing during the summer months and provide performance opportunities to share their talents with the public. The opportunity to play a professional-style gig in which they serve as entertainment and a great experience that will connect generations.

Monday & Wednesdays - July 9th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, 28th, and 30th
Time – 6:00 to 8:15 p.m.

The application deadline is Monday, June 30, 2014. By submitting the application you are agreeing to the rehearsal/concert policies below. There is no fee to audition, however if accepted to the ensemble a $125.00 administrative fee will apply. The ensemble is open to all students currently in 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grades.
Be advised auditions will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at:

- ALL APPLICANTS interested for improvised solo consideration must demonstrate soloing over the B-flat blues progression.
- ALL DRUMMERS must also demonstrate the following styles, swing with brushes, rock/funk, and Latin.
